Culture club

This term (term 4) we are doing Culture Cub.

You are probably wondering what is Culture Club. So Koka Ngaire put up different countries and she would call out our names and we would choose what countrie and if you are going to do it by yourself or buddy. I chose Mexico with Jacob. 

So we have to learn about Mexico like famous person that is alive, capital city, nicest food, president and lots more. Then at the end of school year we dress up in our countries cloths and bring in a famous food from whatever country they chose.  

What I am most looking forward to is dressing up and see what other people made.

What is a quick well a quick write is when our teacher writes on the board a sentence starter and you have to finish it off but, you have to have 5 sentences or more.

As the colours swirled around me I remembered how I got knocked out. So I was just walking home from school and I saw a bee and then I whacked it because I am allergic to bees. But he was an angry bee and stung me. Now I am here on the ground really dizzy.So I started to walk home bu6t someone came past and ask if i was okay I said "no I just go just got stung by a bee, I am allergic to bees. So she rang my mum and my mum took me to hospital. Then the doctors pulled out the poison that the bee infected!!!

Quick write

Water swirled around my feet as i was walking along the golden soft sand. The waves were crashing in the background, birds chirping. The sun  is out and lots of surfers gliding along the glissing wave. The water was so clear you could see fish swimming around in circles nibbling bait of peoples fishing lines. I can't wait for another day like this again

Skateboard!

This week we have been making skateboards. Here is how you make them. 

1. Print a piece of paper that has 2 outline shape a skateboard
2. Draw it then color it.
3. Cut it out
4. Stick one side of the skateboard onto cardboard 
5. Then cut it out






6. Stick the other side onto the cardboard and let it dry

Alliteration

This week I have been learning about Alliteration that haves the same sound at the beginning of the word.

Here is my sentence,

Alexandra the Antelope ate apples while Arthur the Ant ate avocados.

 Once we have finished our sentence we had to go on Google Slides and make it portrait, then we had to choose a background, then we chose 2 animals that starts with (A) out of our Alliteration sentence and 2 fruit or a vegetable that starts with (A) So I choose an Antelope, Apples, Avocados and an Ant because they are in my Alliteration sentence.

When we have finished we are going to publish them and give them to our buddy class to help them do the alphabet.

This Term we have been reading The Explorer by katherine Rundell, I have enjoyed it a lot. When we have read a couple of chapters of our book we go and do question and activities. After we have done our chapter chat question we post them on twitter. But only people that have signed up for chapter chat can only see what you have been posting recently on twitter.We have just finished the book and we all thought it was a great book.

We were surprised on the results. We thought that plastic will block the wifi most but steel blocked it the most.

How we plan our week

I'm going to explain what I do throughout the week and how I set up my digital timetable.

• First we get sent an email from our teacher that has a link to a google form with workshops we can sign up for, whatever workshop you choose you have to go, the workshop will have the date and the time that's how we know when we have to go.

• Then we write our names in a text box so that our teacher knows that we are going to their workshops

• Then we go on to moana learning hub which is a website that has the link to where we write down our timetable for the week.   

• Once we have filled out our timetable, whatever I have written down I have to do.

• Sometimes when our teacher wants us to go to a workshop he or she would write it down in our timetable for us.  This is usually if we need a little bit more help with something.

• We know what workshops we need to go to because we know our levels and goals.

I feel really great about the timetable, because it is a really good tool for my learning, that tells me where to go to at the right time so I don't be late for my workshops.

Hi my name is Ziggy and I am a year 5, at Wainui Beach School in Gisborne, New Zealand. I like soccer and surfing my favorite soccer player is Lionel Messi, my favorite surfer is John John Florence. This is my first time doing a blog.  I am going to be sharing my learning all through the year.  Please leave me some positive comments and feedback so I can continue to improve.
